A land of darkness
From Random Hipatia
It may be spring, and tonight marks the time of the new moon, also known as the Dark Moon. A magical time, when the sun and moon are in conjunction. But yet for the expanse of North America, a great and terrible darkness enfolds the land. Within it the soil is barren and freedom and humanity that dwells on it withers. All that it now touches in the world diminishes and turns to sorrow. Spring is the time of rebirth and renewal, but this land will remain in perpetual darkness, the start of a long dark night…
Is there yet hope for freedom in North America? Is there yet some bright chance for change? For me the most telling sign of how barren this country has become is the simple fact that while I would willingly choose to fight for the freedom of my neighbors I know they would not do the same for me. That realization is perhaps for me most telling about what is wrong and dark in this nation of darkness. America is fertile soil only for fascism, and things much worse that are yet to come that.
Even in countries I have visited where being American was not popular, I knew there people would take me in, even as a stranger, even as an American, and do this for me. I never felt danger on the streets of Prague or Skopje, yes, even on the streets of San Paulo, the way one feels it here. When people cannot even help each other, only the darkness remains.
