The figures are staggering for Iraq

From Random Hipatia

Over 1.2 million Iraqis dead. Some 5% of the population slaughtered in just 4 years. Another 2 million fled the country, and 1.7 million are displaced refugees within the country. In a pre-war population of perhaps 22 million, these numbers are staggering.

Indeed, in just 4 short years, the United States has managed to both oversee and actively participate in the slaughter and displacement of more Iraqis than those killed and driven out of their homes during the ENTIRE 24 year rein of Saddam Hussein. And much like in Saddam's failed quest to control the world's oil, we too are already planning a new war with Iran. And atrocity for atrocity, phosphorus munitions in Faluja vs gas bombs in Kurdistan, we have kept pace with Saddam’s war crimes against the people of Iraq as well. Mission accomplished indeed, depending on what the mission actually was.

It’s time to stop being part of the problem, stop being part of the cause of misery for millions. It is long past time to have left Iraq. I think we have done enough damage there already. Every day brings more death and destruction. Do yet a million more Iraq’s need to die before we end this war of oil for blood?
